Supply Chain Management

This theme session addresses the essence of Supply Chain Management in an innovative manner. Central topics are:

• Inventory: where, when and how much?
• Which supply chain strategy to choose?
• What is the optimal structure of my supply chain?
• What supply chain control concepts are there and which one fits my situation best?

Besides a number of strong concepts and models, we will make use of the Supply Chain Management Game. Through this management game experience it becomes evident how to practically apply these concepts. In vivid discussions with fellow professionals you’ll learn with which ingenious solutions they’ve been successful. You will go home filled with new insights and ideas to radically enhance your supply chain.

Service Parts Management

Service parts characteristics are substantially different than those of fast moving consumer goods. Missed revenue coming from asset downtime is high, which makes uptime management important. The challenge is to do this with relatively expensive, slow moving parts that have unpredictable demand. Key questions hereby are:

• Do I need inventory?
• If so, for which items and who’s paying?
• What other opportunities do I have to increase the benefits of my spare parts supply chain?
• How to make the right trade-off between different management decisions?

We will make use of the specially developed Service Parts Management Game. At the end of the evening you’ll grasp all the related aspects, such as downtime costs, inventory costs, probability of failure, costs of different transport modalities, etc.. You’ll be able to improve your own spare parts management by using straightforward models, easy to apply. This changes spare parts management from cost centre to competitive advantage!

Promotion Planning

Promotional pressure in the FMCG retail channel is still increasing rapidly. The average promotional pressure in supermarkets in 2009 has increased to 17%, in drugstores even to 23%. Simultaneously, the pressure on working capital and on shelf availability has increased further as well. By improving the quality of promotion planning, it is possible to meet these opposing requirements.

Involvation has developed a unique methodology to forecast promotions more accurately. Through the use of a business simulation and an interactive presentation, it will become clear why promotion planning is complex, and how companies can handle this complexity better. A case study will be used to demonstrate the potential of the new planning technique.
